Bangladesh Wins Two Bronze Medals and Four Honorable Mentions at the International Mathematical Olympiad
Bangladeshi students have achieved remarkable success at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), winning two bronze medals and four honorable mentions. The Bangladesh team scored a total of 83 points, securing the 65th position overall. This year’s competition saw participation from 609 students from 108 countries, including 81 girls.
The closing ceremony was held on July 21 at ‘The Forum’ in Bath, UK. The bronze medalists from Bangladesh are Monami Zaman from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College (20 points) and S M A Nahian from Dhaka College (17 points). The honorable mentions were awarded to Jitendra Barua from Bakalia Government College, Chattogram (15 points), Musahid Ahmed from Barishal Cadet College (12 points), Nafiz Noor Tasbin from Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College (10 points), and Tahsin Khan from Mymensingh Zilla School (9 points).
Professor Mohammad Kaykobad, President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee, congratulated the students and emphasized the need for hard work and practice to achieve better results.
Including this year’s results, Bangladeshi students have won a total of 1 gold, 7 silver, 37 bronze medals, and 44 honorable mentions in the IMO.
