General rules for BDRO 2023

Introduction 

Age limit of participants in Bangladesh Robot Olympiad competition is 7 to 18 years. According to the rules set by the International Robot Olympiad, students born in 2005 or later and studying in Bangladeshi educational institutions can participate in the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad.

The competition focuses on how to use a robot efficiently. It involves assembling the robot as well as programming the robot to function properly. Competitors have to carry all the tools, laptops and all the necessary materials for making the robot. No equipment is provided by the organizing authority.

Groups: 

Each competition will be held in two groups, Junior and Challenge. Junior and Challenge Group competitors cannot be together in a given team. It is mandatory to submit birth certificate or any official document mentioning the year of birth for proof of birth at the time of registration.

Junior Group: Those born between 2011 - 2016

Challenge Group: Those born between 2005-2010

Categories:

The following competitions will be held in the 6th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2023:

√Creative Category (1-3 people in a team)

√Robots in the Movie (1-3 people in a group)

√Physical Computing (1-2 people in a group)

√Drone Maze (1 person)

√Robotics Quiz (1 person)

*Among these, Robotics Quiz competition will be organized only for Bangladesh Robot Olympiad and other four competitions will be organized to participate in International Robot Olympiad.

Registration:

To participate in any category of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, registration should be done by duly filling the prescribed registration form of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad website. A scanned copy of either Birth Registration Certificate or Passport or Educational Institution ID Card must be submitted as proof of age at the time of registration. No registration fee is required to participate in Robotics Quiz Competition. Registration for Bangladesh Robot Olympiad will automatically register for Robotics Quiz. However, for the registration of other four categories, registration for the specified category must be done from the profile created after the account registration on the website.

Participation in competition:

This year the competition of all categories will be held in two phases. First all the contestants will participate in the selection phase online. The national competition will be held offline directly at the venue with the best students selected from the selection round. Participation in online selection is mandatory. There is no chance to participate in the national round if you are not selected for the national round after participating in the selection round. The rules for the online selection phase and national phase of each category can be known by reading the rulebook of that category. All categories have separate rulebook on the website.

International Robot Olympiad team selection camp will be held with those who will win in creative category, robot in movie, physical computing and drone maze category in national phase. Bangladesh team for International Robot Olympiad will be selected from this camp after evaluating the students' aptitude and performance who will represent Bangladesh in the 25th International Robot Olympiad to be held in January 2024.
